Astek's A3806-XMC is the first conduction cooled 6Gbps 8 channel SAS adapter in the XMC form factor.

The Astek A3806-XMC is the first conduction cooled, 6Gbps capable XMC form-factor Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Host Bus Adapter (HBA) with 8 lanes of Rear-Transiion I/O, combining the extremes of storage performance, and rugged system design. Get ready for warp speed in your COTS system design. The SAS protocol is ideal for Direct Attached Storage (DAS) and Storage Area Networking (SAN) applications, and has the widest range of compatibility in the market with support for native SAS media at 1.5 to 6Gbps, SATA medai from 1.5 to 6Gbps, Solid State Disk (SSD), Optical (CD/DVD) and Tape media. If you need to scale your application, the SAS interface can be extended with SAS expanders SASExpanders to access over 200 target disks from a single controller, and to support high-reliability topologies with multi-path and failover capabilities. Conduction cooling, conformal coating and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) are designed into the A3806-XMC from the beginning, to ensure that this HBA will meet the demands of extended temperatures and harsh operating environments. With all I/O signaling routed to the XMC connector, there are no wire-bundles to manage. Capabilities: - 6Gbps per port x 8 ports
- Passive copper, or active copper signaling
- Optical QSFP support (requies external components on RTM)
- Supports 200+ disks using SAS expanders
- Support SAS1 (3Gbps) SAS2 (6Gbps)
- Supports SATA/SATAII/SATAIII drives (1.5Gbps , 3Gbps and 6Gbps)
- x8 PCI-Express Gen2 (40Gbps aggregate)
- On-board Hardware RAID (0,1,1e)
- Windows/Linux/VxWorks Support
Complies with these specifications: - ANSI VITA 42.0 XMC
- ANSI VITA 42.3
- ANSI VITA 20 Conduction Cooled design
- SAS Gen 2 operating at 6Gbps per lane
- PCI-Express Gen2 operating at 5Gbps per lane
