The Astek A3803-AMC-03 connects up to 8 lanes of PCI Express bandwidth to 4 lanes of 3Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) front panel I/O with an IPASS SFF-8470 connector. Internal AMC port connections provide 2 lanes of AMC.3 SAS/SATA (AMC Ports 2 and 3), and 2 lanes of SAS to Rear I/O (AMC Ports 19 and 20). These adapters bring enterprise class storage solutions to the ATCA and MicroTCA marketplace allowing telecommuncations and embedded computing systems to access up to 122 target disks with a single storage controller.

The SAS interface allows point-to-point connectivity for higher performance, increased aggregate bandwidth, and higher availability with dual ported drives compared to SATA disks. The integrated SATA Tunneling Protocol (STP) provided compatibility with inexpensive SATA disks and AMC storage modules.

OS Independent Hardware RAID (0,1)

Integrated RAID (IR) provides the reliability and performance benefits of disk mirroring (RAID 1) and striping (RAID 0). Integrated MirroringTM (IM) provides data protection for the system boot volume by simultaneously writing redundant data across two to six disks. Integrated striping yields enhanced performance by aggregating the bandwidth of up to six disk drives. IR is OS-Independent and does not require the use of special device drivers.
