CompactFlash for Embedded Systems

Adding a solid state storage device to an embedded computer has never been easier. With Serial ATA (SATA) support, the A1203-ADA-CF2 adapter allows system builders to use a CompactFlash card anywhere a SATA disk can be used. A jumper is provided to drive an activity LED. When a CompactFlash card is installed in the socket the host computer ‘sees’ a standard ATA type mass-storage device.

Write Protect

The A1203-ADA-CF2 adapter also provides a jumper selection option to write-protect the contents of the CompactFlash card. When enabled, the host computer is prohibited from modifying the contents of the CF card. This enables system assemblers to pre-load a bootable image on a card and ensure that it will not be tampered with. The jumper can be wired to a user-accessible switch if desired to allow for systems where the write-protection needs to be controlled in the field.
