The CompactPCI standard established by PICMG is a hugely popular solution for embedded solutions because the form factor is compatible with many enterprise environments such as 19" rackmount equipment, and it uses the common PCI bus to form the backplane. CompactPCI comes in two primary variations based on the width of the slot which accepts the plug-in board - 3U and 6U.

Astek no longer provides products directly in the cPCI form factor, the recommended replacement option is to use a PMC Card card with a PMC to cPCI adapter.
