Embedded Software Engineer
Astek has an immediate opening for an entry level embedded/system software engineer to support our storage controller board products.

Candidates will be responsible for:

  • supporting our customers who are integrating Astek's hardware and drivers into application platforms,
  • building and operating laboratory test computer systems from modular blade components (xTCA),
  • writing and executing laboratory test and validation software on prototype systems,
  • assisting our design engineers in board validation and manufacturing process development,
  • writing and maintaining hardware drivers for Astek's Host Bus Adapter (HBA) cards, and
  • writing and maintaining documentation,

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year work experience with at least 6-months recent experience building and compiling Linux kernels. Candidates should have a Bachelors of Science in Engineering, or an equivalent math or science discipline, and must have US citizenship or current authorization to work in the US, Astek cannot provide support for Visa applications. At this time Astek is not offering travel expenses for inteviews, candidates should already be located in Colorado, limited moving assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Candidates with any of the following skills are defenitely desireable, candidates should emphasise any such in resumes and cover letters:

  • Experience writing kernel level code, modules and/or drivers in VxWorks, LynxOS and/or Linux systems,
  • Experience in laboratory settings assembling and testing computer hardware,
  • In-Circuit Emulation devices and debugging,
  • Experience in laboratory settings repairing or reworking computer and eletronic assemblies,
  • Experimentation with eletro-mechanicals such as automotive computers, avaiation electronics, or robotics,
  • Filesystem and storage related applications, drivers, kernel modules or embedded firmware,
  • Test and troubleshooing of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment in lab settings,
  • Troubleshooing of electronics or electromechanical equipment in a field setting,
  • Use of high-speed oscilloscopes for eye-patttern measurements,
  • Use of protocol analyzers for bus and processor debugging.
