Colorado Springs, CO (October 19, 2006) - Astek Corporation announced the A3803-AMC Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) product line for the Advanced Mezzanine Card (AdvancedMC), the first 8 channel 3Gb/s SAS controller available for the AdvancedMC market with VxWorks support.

The A3803-AMC HBA provides high-bandwidth access to storage products for the AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA markets over the SAS protocol, which inherits the enterprise quality and high-reliability of the UlraSCSI market. This preserves existing application software that depends on the SCSI architecture, while dramatically increasing maximum throughput up to 24Gb/s to storage subsystems. The A3803-AMC also offers full SATA device compatibility allowing the use of low cost hard disks and solid state disks. When connected to SAS expanders the A3803-AMC card can support 132 target disks, and is multi-path aware allowing system builders to make use of dual-redundant SAS connectivity for enterprise level availability and reliability.

The A3803-AMC series is single width, mid-size card with AMC.0 and AMC.1 compliance. It supports up to 20Gb/s of PCI-Express bandwidth with a Class 8 AMC.1 system, and also supports Class 1 and Class 4 AMC.1 platforms. The HBA offers IPMI 1.5 compliance, with thermal and voltage supervisory features to ensure high-availability and easy diagnosis for mission critical systems.

The A3803-AMC series offers 4 SAS ports of front panel I/O via a high-density IPass connector. The A3803-AMC-01 offers Rear Transition Module (RTM) connectivity on AMC Ports 17-20. The A3803-AMC-03 card is AMC.3 compliant, with 2 SAS channels connected to AMC ports 2 and 3, and two additional ports accessible to the RTM on AMC ports 19 and 20. A version supporting 8 channels of front-panel I/O is pending.

Astek provides direct hardware and software support with drivers for all major operating systems including Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, SUN Solaris 8 and 9, Linux and VxWorks 5.5.x and 6.x. All of Astek's family of storage adapters share a common driver API allowing users to upgrade or switch between parallel SCSI, Serial Attach SCSI (SAS) and Fibre Channel with no changes to system and application software, reducing the integration effort and providing lifetime upgrade options.
