Colorado Springs, CO (April 17, 2006) – Astek Corporation announced the A3803-PMC-01, an eight channel 3Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) adapters, Host Bus Adapter (HBA) in the PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) form factor. The A3803-PMC-01 supports Initiator and Target modes, while the A3803-PMC-01R supports Initiator and Integrated RAID modes. The cards are supported under all major operating systems including Microsoft Windows® XP and Windows® Server 2003, Linux and VxWorks® 5.5.x.

The A3803 board is intended to provide a low risk storage solution for the industrial, medical and military embedded computing markets, and is ideally suited to help customers make the transition to SAS storage. Astek provides hardware and software support, including drivers and system level integration support such as SAN management software tools to support enterprise level customers.

The eight channel A3803-PMC-01 offers front panel I/O with 2 Infiniband connectors, plug compatible with eSATA Infiniband multilane x4 cabling, and PCI-X 64bit/133Mhz support for up to 1Gb/s of data transfer. Each channel supports direct attach target devices (SATA or SAS), or connection to a SAS expander device, supporting up to 132 target disks per HBA. Astek’s family of storage adapters allow upgrade or switching between parallel SCSI, Serial
Attach SCSI (SAS) and Fibre Channel with no changes to software, reducing the integration effort and providing lifetime upgrade options.

The A3803-PMC-01 supports target mode operation for builders of storage enclosures. The A3803-PMC-01R card supports on-chip RAID 0/1/1e, with support for automatic hot-spare and hot-swap of target disks for high-availability and high-reliability requirements.

The A3803 HBA is certified under FCC Class A, UL recognized and CE mark compliant. The card is in fullproduction and is available for immediate sale.
